The aluminum support rod is 1-1/2 outside diameter allowing an easy sliding fit in current existing style rod holders and at an overall length of just over 27 allows it to rest perfectly above the slide rails. With the welded angle rail guard that allows the rod holder to rest against the railing so your rod and holder stays straight out. Allowing you to be able to take a break when needed. Plus the two Velcro strips that attach the angle rail guard to the railing you dont have to worry about the rod holder bouncing out on rough waters or turning the holder when a fish runs sideways.
